Muscle Milk: Cream of the crop
CytoSport’s Muscle Milk is probably one of, if not my favorite sports nutrition product on the market to date. As far as I am concerned Muscle Milk stands in class by itself. I guess you would primarily group it as a protein powder however it has several types of amino acids, peptides and creatine as well. Muscle Milk gets its name from the concept on which it is based, human mother’s milk. Although there is a good amount of fat content in Muscle Milk, there are no trans fats but rather Cytosport’s trademarked ingredient Leanlipids which they claim can actually burn fat rather than store it. Still I would only take 1-2 servings per day just to be on the safe side. Although it has many top notch ingredients in it, Muscle Milk’s main attribute is its taste. To be honest I would probably drink Muscle Milk even if it had no nutritional value…it taste that good!
Here’s how Muscle Milk works…
Muscle Milk contains Creatine GCC which is an endogenous creatine precursor that assists your body’s own creatine production. Leanlipids is the trans fat free complex that is used for burning fat and increasing energy. Muscle Milk also has a custom blend of protein, peptides and amino acids designed to simulate a human mother’s milk.
Great Taste, Great Value
With a list price of $24.99, Muscle Milk is one of the better buys for your money. There are 15 servings per container so depending on how often you use Muscle Milk, you might have to make a few trips to the store per month or buy it in bulk. That’s probably the only down side. Muscle Milk comes in 16 unique flavors. I’ve tried them all so I will list them according taste from best to worst (in my opinion). Here it goes: Chocolate, Cookies and Cream, Rocky Road, Root Beer Float, Mocha Joe, Vanilla, Chocolate Mint Chip, Crème Brulee, Banana Crème, Chocolate Banana Crunch, Pina Colada, Strawberry Banana, Strawberry, Peach Mango, Blueberries and Cream and Orange Crème. As I said before, Muscle Milk doesn’t really have any type of direct competition out there so it is hard to compare it but I don’t mind shelling out the money for this one at all.
Try this
Lately I have been trying to put on as much weight as possible so I am trying to take in as much protein as I can. Muscle Milk has 32 grams of protein per serving so to add a little extra protein to the mix I throw in 1 scoop of Optimum Nutrition’s 100% Whey Protein (chocolate) with my Muscle Milk shake and it taste exactly the same. I generally take it with 8-10oz of non-fat milk. I started doing this about a month and a half ago and noticed some pretty good results. I also talked to few people at the gym that take Muscle Milk on a regular basis. One guy told me he actually takes a scoop of Muscle Milk with his black coffee every morning.
